Some of us are back to reality, one week in Senegal and it feels as we have been there for ages.
Our agendas were burning, meetings in the morning and in the afternoon. “Bussiness” lunch and visits to other health centres and hospitals in the neighbourhood.
But the most important event was the placement of the first stone. During this event we had the opportunity to see with our own eyes the compromise of the local authorities and the neighbourhood. Everybody was there, men, women and children. Even the authorities of other communities in Pikine, everybody was happy to see that this health centre is going to be built.
For me personally there was something that impressed me the most and it was the speech done by Sor Regina, our counterpart in Sam Sam, who spoke from the heart and got the biggest applause of the evening.
She focalized in the point, that building the health centre is the work of everybody, from the Toubabs Team side, we search donations and entities willing to help us in this project, that wouldn’t be possible without all of you, friends and family, who are so engaged in the project as we are and who believe in us.
But she also encouraged the locals to help, however they can! For example, as they did some weeks ago cleaning the parcel.
We are small, yes, but we work directly with the beneficiaries of the project. Our project might not be as big as other projects, but it will save a lot of lives and will improve the life of the almost 20.000 people living in Sam Sam. You trust us and you know we are going to fight until we see the centre finished.
We still need your help, keep telling your friends about us.
The Toubab Spirit is the last thing to go.
THANK YOU, Toubab!
